DULUTH, GA-- The Florida Everblades faced off with the Gwinnett Gladiators for the second time in three days. Florida came out strong in the first with two goals from newcomer Bryan Leitch. Brandon Buck opened the second with his eighth goal of the season and Kevin Baker finished the scoring for Florida. Gwinnett's lone tally came from Pat Galivan on a penalty shot.
The Gwinnett Gladiators took two early penalties in the first period. The Everblades scented blood and newcomer Bryan Leitch skated in from the side, took a pass from Ross Carlson and Ernie Hartlieb, and shot it past David Brown. Two minutes and nine seconds later Shea Guthrie couldn't knock off the shot and Bryan Leitch scored to make it 2-0.
Brandon Buck scored his eighth goal of the season at 4:57 of the second, when he took a quick pass from of Ross Carlson; Kevin Baker was credited with the second assist. Phil Paquet drew Florida's first penalty at 7:38 when he was whistled for hooking. The Everblades killed the penalty and continued to apply pressure to the Gladiators. Playing in his 300th professional game in North America team captain Kevin Baker recorded his first tally of the night at 14:42. The power-play goal was assisted by Ryan Lang, and Ernie Harltieb had his second assist to close out the second stanza.
Gwinnett had the lone tally of the third period. Pat Galivan was hooked by Brandon Buck and awarded a penalty shot. Florida goalie Mike Morrison was unable to stop Galivan and Gwinnett avoided the shutout. Florida closed out the game 4-1 to improve to 16-12-5.
