
Everblades Sign Goalie Owen; Place McNicoll on IR

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades President and General Manager Craig Brush along with Head Coach Greg Poss announced today that goaltender Shane Owen has signed an amateur tryout agreement with the team.
Owen joins the Everblades after beginning the season in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with the Moncton Wildcats. The 20-year-old posted a record of 12-12-3 with a 3.09 goals against average and a .913 save percentage in 27 games with the Wildcats this season.
In 2009-10 the native of Markham, Ontario helped lead Moncton to the QMJHL Championship and a trip to the 2010 Memorial Cup after going 14-3-0 with a 2.12 GAA and a .925 save percentage in 18 games.
Prior to his time with Moncton, Owen spent parts of three seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with the Erie Otters from 2007-10. Overall in four seasons at the junior level the 6-foot-1, 182 pound net-minder was 42-44-7 with a 3.78 GAA and an .882 save percentage in 105 games.
In addition to the signing of Owen, the Everblades also placed forward Cedric McNicoll on the 21-day IR after the 22-year-old suffered an injury in Florida's 5-4 loss to Reading on January 22 at Germain Arena. For the Longueuil, Quebec native it's his second extended trip to the IR this season.
McNicoll has 19 points (7g, 12a) in 24 games with the Everblades this season and has picked up six points (2g, 4a) in six games this season with the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League.

The Everblades return to action on Saturday, January 29 when they travel to Toledo to take on the Walleye at 7:00 p.m. from Huntington Center.
