Everblades Sign Another Forward From Brahbam Cup Team

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades president and general manager Craig Brush along with head coach Malcolm Cameron announced the signing of forward Steve McJannet today. McJannet becomes the 16th player signed by Florida for the upcoming season. He joins forwards Ernie Hartlieb, Mathieu Roy, Colin Nicholson, Dylan Stanley, Ryan Lang, Jadran Beljo, Benjamin Breault and reigning ECHL MVP Kevin Baker. Florida's defense consists of; Scott Hotham, Cleve Kinley, Phil Paquet, Peter Metcalf, AJ Thelen and Brad Zanon. Florida's loan goaltender on the roster is ex-NHLer Mike Morrison.

"Steve's a big, hard-working, physical player that plays with a lot of passion," said head coach Malcolm Cameron. "He obviously adds size to our squad, stands up for his teammates and plays his role very well for our hockey club."

McJannet appeared in 29 games with the Everblades last season. He scored six goals and five assists for 11 points with 59 penalty minutes. From 2006-08 the 6-foot-3, 210-pound left wing skated for the ECHL's Columbia Inferno. In total, McJannet has appeared in 129 professional games (all in the ECHL), scored 32 goals with 33 assists for 65 points and racked up 190 penalty minutes. He also has appeared in 19 Kelly Cup Playoff battles scoring two goals, 12 assists for 14 points and 16 penalty minutes.

McJannet says he is happy to be back in Southwest, Florida and looks at last season as a learning experience, "Sometimes in sports you have to learn how to win. Although last year was disappointing in a lot of ways, I think it will only make us better for this season."

McJannet skated for the Lakers of Lake Superior State University in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association from 2002-06. In 133 games played, the Kanata, Ontario native registered 15 markers, 26 helpers and 41 points with 132 penalty minutes.
