Toledo Walleye News Release

(TOLEDO, OH) - The Toledo Walleye are pleased to announce the next wave of player signings for the inaugural 2009-2010 roster. The Walleye have agreed to terms with Mike Hedden, Tommy Lange, Daniel Michalsky, and Evan Rankin. This takes their current roster up to 16 players for the inaugural season.

Mike Hedden

The 24-year-old Hedden set several career records during his four-year career at Neumann College (Div. 3). He ranks first in goals (96), fourth in assists (67) and second in points (163) all-time with the Knights.

Toledo Walleye Head Coach Nick Vitucci said, "Hedden was one of the top players at the D-3 level playing for Neumann College. Despite being 5'9" he plays like he is 6'4". He has a tremendous nose for the net and incredible creativity."

Hedden has been invited to the Grand Rapids Griffins training camp in the American Hockey League.

Tommy Lange

The 23-year old Lange spent the 2008-09 season with the Kalamazoo Wings (IHL), scoring 25 goals and adding 24 assists in 75 games. Prior to that, the St. Louis, Mo. native spent the 2006-07 with both the Halifax Wolverines of the Maritime Junior A Hockey League (MJAHL) and Saint John Sea Dogs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL).

Walleye Head Coach Nick Vitucci said, "Lange is coming off an impressive rookie season last year in Kalamazoo. He is a big, skilled offensive minded player who is a great skating 2-way forward and will provide plenty of offense."

Lange has been invited to the Rockford IceHogs training camp in the American Hockey League.

Daniel Michalsky

Michalsky most recently played two seasons for the Barrie Colts of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), and prior to that played for three years at the Junior level with the Aurora Tigers. The 21-year-old has tallied 40 points in two of the last season, including a career high 42 (24 goals, 18 assists) in 43 games with Aurora in 2006-07.

"Michalsky is coming off an impressive career in Canadian Major Junior Hockey. He is a big, powerful player who loves to create havoc in front of opposing nets as well as playing a physical brand of hockey," Vitucci said. "We will expect Daniel will contribute on both sides of the puck."

Michalsky has been invited to the Rockford IceHogs training camp in the American Hockey League.

Evan Rankin

The 23-year-old Rankin played the 2008-09 season with the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees (CHL) and had an impressive season, scoring 28 goals and adding 23 assists in 64 games. The University of Notre Dame product helped lead the Irish to the Frozen Four in his senior season.

"Rankin completed an impressive season last year in the Central Hockey League. He is a highly skilled forward who comes highly recommended by every coach in the Central Hockey League. I look forward to Evan building on his impressive numbers with the Walleye this year," Walleye Head Coach Nick Vitucci said.

Rankin has been invited to the Rockford IceHogs training camp in the American Hockey League.
