Lowell, MA "" The Connecticut Tigers (9-10) defeated the Lowell Spinners (10-9) by a score of 9-4 Wednesday night at LeLacheur Park. Tigers DH Joey Pankake (3-5) put together one of his best offensive performances since coming to Connecticut. Pankake had two singles, one double, three RBI's and a run scored.

The Tigers also saw contribution from SS Garrett Mattlage (2-4). In Mattage's first four at bats, he reached base and scored run. Mattlage had a single and a triple to go along with his four runs scored in six at-bats. 2B Domingo Leyba (1-5) hit a two-run triple in the fourth inning that opened the lead for the Tigers at 6-0. It was RBI's 10 and 11 for Leyba. 3B Steven Fuentes (3-4) fell a homerun shy of the cycle. The Tigers offense was very patient at the plate as they drew 10 walks as a team. Even in the win the struggles continue for the Tigers with runners on base as they left 14 men on base and in the last two games a combine 23 left on base. The Tigers were 4-for-21 with runners in scoring position and just 6-for-31 in the first two games of the series.

RHP Austin Pritcher (2-1) picked up the win for the Tigers as he came in relief of starter RHP Josh Heddinger (0-0) who pitched two scoreless innings while giving up two hits and striking out two. It was the first time in four games that Pritcher came out in a relief role. In his previous three games he was the starting pitcher. Pritcher pitched five innings while allowing three runs on five hits and struck out six batters.

In the series finale, Tigers RHP Tanner Bailey (1-0, 0.00) is slated to face off against Lowell's RHP Simon Mercedes (0-0, 0.00). Pre-game radio coverage begins at 6:50 p.m. 1310 WICH and online at www.cttigers.com.
