Evansville Otters News Release
(EVANSVILLE, INDIANA) - The Evansville Otters are looking for the next great baseball player and will hold a tryout at 9:00 a.m. CDT on Sunday, May 5, at historic Bosse Field.
Registration is $50 on the day of the tryout, or $45 for pre-registration.
The Otters have signed several players from their recent tryouts, including outfielder Greg Alexander, the team's all time runs batted in leader (148), and reliever Patrick Crider, an Owensboro native who has pitched in more games than any other Otter (123).
"We are always looking for new talent in and around Evansville area," said Otters manager Andy McCauley. "Having an open tryout early in spring training is incredibly beneficial because we can sign players and bring them right into camp."
The Otters have a strong history of signing local talent, including starting pitcher Adam Champion. The 2006 North High School graduate was signed by the Otters in 2012, becoming the Otters' ace with a 8-5 record and a 3.06 earned run average last year.
Anyone interested in attending the tryout should fill out the attached registration document and mail to the Otters at 1701 N. Main St., Evansville, IN 47711.
The Evansville Otters' season starts on Friday, May 17 against the Normal CornBelters. The year will feature 51 home games, including seven scheduled doubleheaders at Historic Bosse Field. Season tickets are already on sale and can be ordered by calling the Evansville Otters front office at (812) 435-8686.
Businesses interested in participating with the Otters through advertising or group outings should email ottersbb@evansville.net . You can also communicate with the Evansville Otters through Facebook and Twitter.
