(EVANSVILLE, Indiana) - The Evansville Otters are proud to announce that infielder Ryan Still will be back with the team in 2012.

As a rookie from the University of Houston, Still joined the Otters in mid-season last year. The Texas native stole 14 bases, the second highest on the team, and also walked 60 times, which was third best in the Frontier League.

"Stilly played a solid defense and was a tough out at the plate," Otters manager Andy McCauley said. "He surprised us with his bat as he grinded out quality plate appearances and always ran deep pitch counts."

Director of Player Personnel Kevin Cope admired what he saw in Still upon his arrival.

"Ryan did well last year after joining the team," Cope said. "I am looking forward to seeing him build off of the 2011 season."

Entering a new year, McCauley envisions Still as an important part of the Otters lineup.

"He gives us a top of the order hitter as we look for him to be a table setter for the rest of our lineup," said McCauley. "He is a tough kid who played with a dislocated finger for the last two weeks of the season. We look forward to seeing him for a full season."

Opening Day for the Otters at historic Bosse Field is Friday, May 18, 2012, when Evansville hosts the Washington Wild Things. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. CDT, and season tickets are on sale now.
