July 23, 2015 - Northwest League (NWL1)
Eugene Emeralds News Release
EUGENE, Ore. - In memory of fallen Eugene police officer Chris Kilcullen, the Eugene Emeralds will wear special jerseys on Sunday in his honor for Kilcullen Night: A Tribute to Police and the Military, presented by Original Roadhouse Grill.
Fans will be treated to a pre-game parade and players will suit up in special police themed uniforms. Each uniform will be available in a silent auction during the game, with all proceeds made from the sale donated to the Chris Kilcullen Project. Kendall Automotive Group helped with the cost of the special jerseys.
The Emeralds' Kilcullen Night is tied in with the fifth and final Chris Kilcullen Memorial Ride. The ride is a motorcycle trip starting in Eugene, looping North through Salem and back to Eugene, ending at PK Park before Sunday's 5:01 PM game.
Kilcullen, a 12-year veteran of the Eugene Police Department, was tragically shot and killed in 2011 while on duty during a pursuit.
MORE INFORMATION ON THE KILCULLEN PROJECT
The Kilcullen Project is a 501(c)3 organization that seeks out opportunities in the local community that Chris either supported or would have supported. Last year, the project donated $20,000 to Children's Miracle Network, Oregon Fallen Badge Foundation, Springfield Education Foundation and the Courageous Kids Foundation. This year the project will benefit the Oregon Fall Badge Foundation, Camp Agape, Joys of Living Assistance Dogs and the South Willamette Valley Honor Flight Organization. The fund also backs scholarships in Chris' name.
