
Tri-City Closes out Series with a Win

Tri-City Dust Devils News Release
The Tri-City Dust Devils edged the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes 4-2 Wednesday night at Gesa Stadium and won the critical five-game series three games to two. The Dust Devils (19-15) had another good night at the plate with twelve hits while holding the Volcanoes (18-16) to only five hits on the night. One night after collecting 19 hits, Tri-City had nine hits in the first three innings. With the win the Dust Devils remain one game behind the Everett AquaSox in the Northwest League North division first half playoff race with four games remaining.
Ty France had an RBI single for Tri-City, while Peter Van Gansen broke out of his mini slump with two hits and an RBI. A.J. Kennedy had two hits while Justin Pacchioli and Mitch Morales had three hits on the night for the Dust Devils.
Miguel Gomez had another two-RBI night for Salem-Keizer. John Riley was a notable hitter as well with two hits.
Tri-City starting pitcher Brandon Fry pitched two and one third innings in his Dust Devils debut, giving up two runs on four hits, while striking out two and walking two batters. Griffin Russell (2-1) got the win in relief of Fry. Russell pitched three and two thirds innings, striking out four and giving up only one hit.
Starting pitcher Drew Leenhouts (4-2) pitched five innings in the loss for Salem-Keizer. Leenhouts struck out six and gave up four runs on ten hits. Cory Taylor pitched three innings in relief of Leenhouts, striking out six batters and giving up only two hits.
The Dust Devils will hit the road for a short three game series in Vancouver against the Canadians from July 23rd-July 25th. Tri-City will return home Sunday July 26th for the start of a three game series against the Spokane Indians. There will be a drawstring backpack giveaway where the first 500 fans will receive a drawstring backpack thanks to Lourdes Health Network.
