
Esks sign Emmerson Phillips

Edmonton, AB â The Edmonton Eskimos announced today the signing of free agent defensive back Emmerson Phillips.
The Toronto native attended Boston College where he played mostly on special teams. He sat out the 2001-'02 academic year to play baseball in Puerto Rico for the San Juan Vipers. Phillips was an honours student at Boston College where majored in Finance and Criminology. During his three years at Northern Secondary School in Toronto, Phillips earned both All-Canada and All-Ontario honours as a defensive back and kick returner. He transferred to Milford Academy in Miami, FL for his senior year and led the nation with a kick return average of 55 yards. Phillips returned his first two kicks at Milford for 99 yard TDs.
