Edmonton Elks News Release

(Edmonton) The Edmonton Eskimos have signed free agent import kicker Swayze Waters and free agent import linebacker Clint Kent, the club announced today.

Waters signed as an undrafted free agent with the Detroit Lions following the 2009 NFL draft; he also spent time with the Oakland Raiders and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Waters played his college football for the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he was a kick-off specialist and was named to the Conference USA Commissioner's Honour Roll in 2005. In 2007 he posted a career best in fielding goals making 22 of 28, including going three of four from 50 yards and beyond.

Kent has spent time in the CFL with Montreal in 2009 and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers from 2010-2011. In 2010, he played in 17 regular season games registering 77 defensive tackles and 13 special teams tackles. He was voted a team captain last season in only his second year with the club. The former James Madison University standout ended his career as the school's all-time leader in interceptions with 13.

Eskimo General Manager Eric Tillman commented, "Clint Kent has a terrific relationship with Kavis from their days in Winnipeg, and we feel like he'll be a nice addition to our club."
