Esks Add Canadian Depth

(Edmonton) - The Edmonton Eskimo Football Club announces signing of non-import wide receiver Ismael Bamba and non-import defensive lineman Gregory Alexandre.

Bamba was originally selected in the sixth round (39th overall) by the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the 2012 CFL Canadian Draft. After transferring to the University of Sherbrooke from the University of North Dakota, he became one of the top receivers in the CIS. He finished his senior year with 50 receptions for 543 yards and four touchdowns. He also had 12 kick returns for 310 yards and one touchdown and 18 punt returns for 208 yards and one touchdown.

Alexandre was originally drafted in the fifth round (35th overall) by the Toronto Argonauts in the 2011 CFL Canadian Draft. At the University of Montreal, he registered 96 career tackles and set a school record of 19 quarterback sacks. In 2007, he earned Defensive Rookie of the Year and went on to be named a CIS First-Team All-Canadian and four-time First-Team All-Conference selection.

The Eskimos also announce the release of non-import defensive back Delroy Clarke. Clarke originally joined the Eskimos after being traded from Toronto in March 2011 in exchange for a fourth-round selection in the 2012 CFL Canadian Draft. Since entering the league in 2008, he registered 45 special teams tackles and two fumble recoveries in 59 career games.
