(Edmonton) The Edmonton Eskimos have signed free agent non-import defensive back Mike Miller from Acadia University and free agent import linebacker Rory Malone.
In four seasons with the Axemen, Mike Miller (5-11, 200lbs) posted 133 defensive tackles in 29 games. In 2009, he was named 2nd team All-Canadian and AUS All-Star. The native of Riverview, New Brunswick was a team captain in 2010.
Rory Malone (5-10, 229 lbs) was a three year starter at Mississippi Valley State and a member of the track team where he competed in the 100 and 4x100 meter events.
On the signing of Malone, Eskimo General manager Eric Tillman says "From day one Coach Kavis Reed said he wanted our club to be faster on both sides of the ball. Rory clearly fits the mold of what we're trying to evolve to defensively. He ¬â¢ll be given a chance to compete both inside and outside in Rich Stubler ¬â¢s system.
