Eskimos Add Two More to Coaching Staff

(Edmonton) The Edmonton Eskimos would like to welcome Marcus Crandell and Steff Kruck who will take on the roles of offensive coordinator receivers coach respectively, the club announced today.

Entering his third year as a CFL coach, Crandell joins the Eskimo coaching staff after serving two successful seasons as the Saskatchewan Roughrider offensive assistant. Before making the move to the coaching ranks in 2009, the North Carolina native spent 11 seasons as a quarterback in the CFL including three seasons with the Eskimos (1997-'99) before signing with the Stampeders in 2001. Marcus led the Stamps to their fifth Grey Cup Championship that year and was named the 2001 Grey Cup MVP. Crandell amassed 1,23 complettions for 16,303 yards and 79 touchdowns in 145 games in the CFL.

Steff Kruck comes to the Eskimos after serving five years with the BC Lions as their quarterbacks coach (2005-2009). Prior to moving to the CFL, the Philadelphia native spent 15 years coaching at the collegiate level in the US.

Eskimo linebackers coach Mark Nelson will also remain on the Edmonton coaching staff for 2011.

Nelson joined the Eskimos on August 18, 2010 to take over as linebackers coach; a position that was left vacant by the resignation of Dan Kepley. Under his leadership, the linebacking corps excelled and sophomore Eskimo Rod Davis emerged as a strong defensive threat posting 39 defensive tackles, two quarterback sacks and two interceptions that were both returned for touchdowns in 11 games. TJ Hill, Maurice Lloyd and the aforementioned Davis finished in the top three on the team in defensive tackles with Hill and Lloyd ending the season in the top 10 in the CFL.
