Errors Kill Marauders' Hopes

Bradenton, FL - The Marauders (38-31) committed 5 errors as they dropped the first game of their series with the Char- lotte Stone Crabs (34-36) by a final of 5-4.

Jace Conrad (2-for-5, 2 RBI, R, SB) put the Stone Crabs ahead for good in the top of the ninth with an RBI single to make it 5-4.

The game was scoreless through the first three innings until the Stone Crabs jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth on an RBI by Bralin Jackson (1-for-4, 2 RBI, SB).

Charlotte added another run in the fifth on a fielder's choice by Conrad (1-for-4, RBI, R, SB) to make it 2-0.

The Marauders got on the board in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI single by Kevin Kramer (2-for-4, RBI) to make it 2- 1 Stone Crabs.

They tied the game at 2 in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI single by Elvis Escobar (2-for-4, RBI, 3B).

The Stone Crabs re-took the lead in the top of the eighth after Justin Williams (1-for-3, 2B, RBI, 2 R, BB) reached on an error by Junior Lopez that allowed Conrad to score. Jackson added an RBI single later in the inning to make it 4-2.

But the Marauders came right back and tied the game in the bottom half of the inning on a two-out, two-run double by Connor Joe (2-for-4, 2B, 2 RBI).

Marauders righty Jonathan Brubaker went 6 innings giving up 4 hits, 2 runs, and 2 walks with 5 strikeouts.

Stone Crabs starter Chris Pike threw 6.2 innings allowing 7 hits, 2 runs (1 earned), and a walk with 7 strikeouts.
