
Errors and doubles haunt Dust Devils

PASCO, WA â The fi rst place Everett AquaSox (Mariners) scored three runs in the third and three more in the fourth inning to jump out to an early 6-0 lead. AquaSox starting pitcher, Shawn Nottingham continued his 2004 dominance pitching six strong innings allowing only three hits and zero runs to improve to 3-0.
Dust Devil's starting pitcher Jake Postlewait (0-2) cruised through the first two innings allowing only one hit but the third inning it was a different story. 3B Brent Johnson led off the inning with a double to left and scored when the next batter, CF Mike Wilson doubled. After a Af LF Casey Craig walk Oswaldo Navarro doubled to left scoring Johnson. The AquaSox would get another run in the third and three more in the fourth (all unearned) highlighted by another double other, this one by C Omar Falcon.
The AquaSox would end up with seven doubles on the night, three shy of the NWL record set in 1960. Tri-City struggled all night in the fi eld committing four errors as they battled the swirling Pasco wind.
Leading 6-0 entering the top of the seventh inning Everett put the game out of reached dropping an eight spot helped by three Tri-City errors. The sloppy inning was highlighted by Craig's stand-up RBI triple off the base of the right fi eld wall.
Falcon led Everett going 3 for 5 while fi ve AquaSox had two hits each. DH Florentino Nunez, 3B Matt Macri and CF John Restrepo each had two hits for Tri-City.
The Dust Devils are looking for a fresh start tomorrow as RHP Tomas Santiago (0-0, 4.64) takes the hill against Everettʼs Aaron Jensen (3-0, 3.05 ERA).
Thursday night is "Ladies Night" at Dust Devils Stadium and "Thirsty Thursday," get out to the park!
