Fort Worth Cats News Release
The Fort Worth Cats rebounded from a loss on Wednesday night to rout the Rio Grande Valley Whitewings 10-0 on Thursday.
The Cats (17-10) were held scoreless through three innings, but the momentum of the game changed when catcher Shelby Ford got on via a throwing error that moved him to second base with one out. From there, the Cats strung together a single, two walks and three doubles to go up 6-0.
They never looked back, adding two more runs in the fifth and two more in the seventh.
Cats' pitching shut out the Whitewings (13-14) - the fourth Cats' shutout of the season and the first since May 30.
Starting pitcher Aaron Wilkerson went seven innings strong, giving up four hits and striking out nine. Wilkerson now leads the team with 39 strikeouts this season.
In his first game with the team, Matt Eshleman pitched one inning and gave up one hit to go with his one strikeout.
The Cats will play the final game of the series against the Whitewings and the final game of the homestand on Friday at 7:05 p.m.
