Zimmerman's Return Pays off for Aces

EDINBURG- Ryan Zimmerman came back from an 11-day hiatus to lead the Alexandria Aces to an 11-2 victory against the Edinburg Roadunners Thursday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.

Zimmerman (2-1) allowed only one run in five innings of work, surrendering five hits and three walks while striking out two batters. Four Alexandria relief pitchers, James LoPrestie, Leo Madrid, Alex Schmarzo, and Gabe Grammer, each threw and effective inning of relief to close out the victory.

The Aces (13-14) collected only seven hits in the game but benefitted from 13 walks, three hit batters, and two errors from Edinburg (12-15). Julio DeJulio (2-2) suffered the loss for Edinburg despite not allowing a hit by allowing six walks and five runs one plus inning of work.

The Aces have won two of three from Edinburg and will conclude their eight game road trip with the final game of the series Friday at 7:05 p.m. Mike Loseke (1-1) pitches for the Aces against an undetermined pitcher.
