Last night, the Erie SeaWolves dropped the series opener to the Richmond Flying Squirrels, 6-5. It was Erie's seventh one-run loss of the season. The SeaWolves could not take advantage of seven Richmond errors, going 2-for-12 with runners in scoring position. Alex Faedo tied a career-high with 10 strikeouts, but allowed six earned runs (three home runs) in five innings and took his second loss. Tonight, Anthony Castro takes the mound for his for Erie making his eighth appearance and fourth start of 2019. Castro left his last start on May 9 versus Akron, after two-plus innings with an apparent injury. He received a no-decision after allowing three runs, two earned, and walked a season-high four batters. The 24-year old is making his first career start versus Richmond. Caleb Barager takes the mound for the Squirrels making his second appearance and first start. He appeared in relief in his Richmond debut on May 10 against Bowie. The left-hander allowed four earned unearned runs, walked two and struck out one in 0.2 innings. Baragar was drafted by San Francisco in the 9th round of the 2016 draft out of Indiana University.

- The roster includes nine, Top 30 prospects, according to MLB Pipeline, and two members of the Detroit Tigers 40-man roster

- INF Isaac Paredes is the No. 4 overall prospect and OF Jose Azocar is No. 28.

- INF Sergio Alcantara & LHP Gregory Soto are 40-man members, Alcantara is the No. 15 overall prospect and Soto is No. 26

- Erie's +51 run differential ranks first in the Eastern League, Richmond's -48 run differential is last

- Following a loss, the SeaWolves are 9-5 this season and hitting a league-best .276 in such games

- Last night, Erie went 1-for-6 with RISP and two outs... SeaWolves are now batting .217 in those situations (8th in league)

- After allowing three home runs yesterday, the SeaWolves pitching staff has given up 28 home runs (3rd-most in EL)

- SeaWolves hitters have struck out 259 times (fewest in the EL), while Flying Squirrels batters have gone down on strikeouts 275 times (fourth-fewest)
