The scoring began for Akron in the third. Kyle Haines walked to lead off the inning. Jose Constanza bunted Haines to second and ended up on first himself thanks to a Jon Kibler error. Back to back groundouts by Matt McBride and Carlos Santana brought in Haines and Constanza for a 2-0 Akron lead.
Erie got a run back in the bottom half of the inning as Andy Dirks scored on an RBI double by Danny Worth.
The 2-1 score would hold until the bottom of the fifth, when Dirks singled up the middle to score Santo De Leon and Deik Scram to make it 3-2 SeaWolves. Erie tacked on two more runs in the eighth
