Erie Downs Aeros Yet Again, Win 5-2

ERIE, PA - It was a familiar scene in Erie Tuesday night as the SeaWolves defeated the Aeros by the final count of 5-2 at Jerry Uht Park with 4,733 fans in attendance. It was the 11th win in 13 contests against the Aeros this season for Erie. Six of the last seven Akron (59-38) losses are now courtesy of the Seawolves, who improved to 54-42.

The scoring began for Akron in the third. Kyle Haines walked to lead off the inning. Jose Constanza bunted Haines to second and ended up on first himself thanks to a Jon Kibler error. Cristo Arnal was up next with the same result, as another error by Kibler on a bunt attempt loaded the bases. Back to back groundouts by Matt McBride and Carlos Santana brought in Haines and Constanza for a 2-0 Akron lead.

Erie got a run back in the bottom half of the inning as Andy Dirks scored on an RBI double by Danny Worth.

The 2-1 score would hold until the bottom of the fifth, when Dirks singled up the middle to score Santo De Leon and Deik Scram to make it 3-2 SeaWolves. Erie tacked on two more runs in the eighth

Kibler (6-5) earned the win with 7.1 strong innings of work while Bobby Livingston (7-5) took the loss. Brett Jennings posted his 11th save of the season by holding Akron hitless in the ninth.

This four-game series continues in Erie Wednesday night with a 7:05 p.m. start time Left-hander Ryan Edell (2-1, 2.60 ERA) gets the nod for Akron against Pat Stanley (4-3, 4.63 ERA).
