Erie Otters News Release
Erie, Pennsylvania - Erie Otters General Manager Dave Brown announced today that the team has acquired a sixth-round pick in 2018 and a thirteenth-round pick in 2020 from the Kingston Frontenacs in exchange for defenseman Mitchell Byrne.
Byrne, 19, has totaled two assists and ten penalty minutes in 21 games played with the Otters this season. The 5-foot-11, 189-pound defenseman has tallied four goals and thirteen assists for seventeen career points during four seasons with Erie, accruing 63 penalty minutes and a +21 plus/minus rating overall in his 140 career games played. Byrne appeared in 33 playoff games with the Otters over three postseasons, contributing a goal and three assists. Byrne was a member of the Otters' J. Ross Robertson Cup-winning team last season.
"On behalf of the Erie Otters organization, I would like to thank Mitchell for his years dedicated to the team and our successes," said Dave Brown. "His work ethic contributed to our culture and we are grateful for that. This move opens the door for our growing blue line corps, as they mature into larger roles with our team."
