Tulsa Oilers News Release

TULSA, OK - The Tulsa Oilers, proud ECHL affiliate of the Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose, announced on Tuesday the signing of defenseman Sean Erickson and goaltender Andy Iles to the 2015-16 roster.  Both players are returning to Tulsa after finishing the 2014-15 campaign with the Oilers.

Erickson, 31, played four full seasons in Tulsa from 2009-2013 and ranks ninth on the franchise's list of all-time games played with 247 appearances in Oilers' colors. After nearly two complete seasons with the Rapid City Rush, Erickson landed back in Tulsa last April and appeared in two regular season contests as well as all five postseason games. The Eden Prairie, Minnesota native was the Oilers' top-scoring defenseman in the 2012-13 season (7 goals, 30 assists) and set career-highs in assists (32) and points (46) during the 2013-14 season with the Rush. Entering his seventh season as a pro, Erickson, 6-foot-0, 180-pounds, has recorded 209 points (57 goals, 152 assists) and 310 penalty minutes in 385 career outings.

"Tulsa is like a second home to me and I'm thrilled to be headed back for another season of hockey in a place where I feel extremely comfortable," Erickson stated. "I'm looking forward to the opportunity to play for a well-known and well-respected coach like Jason Christie and I'm excited about the direction of the team with several players back from last season. I know how much it means to the Tulsa fans to see winning hockey, and I want to do whatever I can to take this team to the top."

Iles, 5-foot-9, 180-pounds, is entering his second season in the pro ranks. After starting his career as an amateur with the Florida Everblades at the end of the 2013-14 season, Iles split his time in 2014-15 between the Alaska Aces, Everblades, and Oilers. The 23-year old posted a 2.98 goals against average and a 15-6-2 record in 23 appearances with the Everblades before landing with the Oilers last April. During a four-year college career at Cornell University in his hometown of Ithaca, New York, Iles set a school record for most career saves and ranks in the top 10 in Cornell history in wins, shutouts, goals against average, and save percentage.

The Oilers open training camp on Monday, October 5 at the Oilers Ice Center (6413 S. Mingo Rd.). The 2015-16 season opener is set for Friday, October 16 at 7:05 p.m. against the Wichita Thunder.
