
Eric Schierhorn to Play for Team USA in 2013 Four Nations Cup

MUSKEGON, Michigan (November 5th) - The Muskegon Lumberjacks are proud to announce that Goaltender Eric Schierhorn has been invited to participate for Team USA in the 2013 Under-18 Four Nations Cup taking place this week from November 6-10th in Kupittaa, Finland.
Schierhorn, the Anchorage, Alaska native, is currently in his first season with the Lumberjacks and has appeared in eight games this season compiling a record of 4-4-0 with a 2.35 goals-against average to go along with a .927 save percentage and one shutout.
"It's an honor anytime you get a chance to play for your country and represent the stars and stripes," said Schierhorn. "I'm excited to get to Finland and play some hockey."
The 2013 Under-18 Four Nations Tournament with feature four teams in Team USA, Finland, Sweden, and Switzerland. Team USA will play three games, once against each team, with the tournament champion being decided after the three games have been played.
In terms of their schedule, Team USA will play an exhibition game tomorrow against Finland at 11:00 am EST and will begin their tournament on Friday against Sweden at 9:00 am EST followed by a contest Saturday against Finland at 10:00 am EST and conclude the tournament on Sunday versus Switzerland at 6:00 am EST. Team USA has claimed the last five Under-18 Four Nations Tournaments.
In addition, the Lumberjacks have added three affiliate players to participate in the team's three home games this week in Goaltender Ryan Larkin (Clarkson, Michigan), Defenseman Luc Snuggerud (Eden Prairie, Minnesota), and Forward Steven Spinner (Eden Prairie, Minnesota) to fill roster spots left by Connor Hurley (World Junior A Challenge) and Eric Schierhorn (Four Nations Cup).
Ryan Larkin was drafted by the Lumberjacks in the 17th-round (248th overall) during the 2013 USHL Phase Two Draft and is currently playing for the Honeybaked Midget Major squad. He is also committed to Miami University out of the newly-formed National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) following his junior career and is the younger brother of Lumberjacks Defenseman Adam Larkin.
Luc Snuggerud was drafted by the Lumberjacks in the 16th-round (227th overall) during the 2012 USHL Entry Draft and will be entering his third season at Eden Prairie High School. During the last two seasons with the Eagles, Snuggerud totaled 62 points (10 goals and 52 assists) in 53 games played. Following his junior career, Snuggerud is committed to play for the University of Nebraska-Omaha out of the NCHC.
Steven Spinner was drafted by the Lumberjacks in the 7th-round (92nd overall) during the 2012 USHL Entry Draft and, like Snuggerud, will be entering his third season with the Eden Prairie Eagles. During the last two seasons with his high school, Spinner has accumulated 76 points (39 goals and 37 assists) in 50 games played.
In other Lumberjacks news, the team has also added Defenseman Myles McGurty to the roster for the remainder of the season. McGurty, the Weehawken, New Jersey native, spent the previous two seasons playing in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) for three teams.
During the 2011-12 season, McGurty spent the year playing for the Montcon Wildcats totaling 7 points (2 goals and 5 assists) in 49 games played. Last season combined between playing for the Acadie-Bathurst Titan and Chicoutimi Saguen̮̩ens, McGurty recorded 11 points (1 goal and 10 assists) in 46 games played.
The Lumberjacks and RoughRiders will renew acquaintances again tomorrow morning at the L.C. Walker Arena for a special 10:30 am puck drop for our Hockey for Health School Day Game. Muskegon will then conclude their four-game homestand with a pair of games against the Dubuque Fighting Saints next Friday and Saturday at 7:15 pm, respectively.
Friday's game features Girl Scout Night and the return of our "Jacks Win You Win" promotion presented by Sport Clips. If the Lumberjacks win, every fan in attendance will receive a $5 Sport Clips gift card. Also, any Girl Scout that comes to the game will receive a discounted ticket.
Saturday's game features Chamber Night presented by the Muskegon Lakeshore Chamber of Commerce along with the return of our Subway Saturday promotion. If the Lumberjacks win on Saturday, fans can present their ticket stubs at any participating West Michigan Subway location for a buy one six-inch sub, get another six-inch sub of equal or lesser value for free.
Individual game tickets are on sale for the low price of $10 for adults and $6 for children ages 3-12 if they are purchased before the day of the game. Tickets can be purchased at the Lumberjacks' Box Office or by calling (231) 724-5225.
