Amarillo Dillas News Release

AMARILLO, TX - The Amarillo Dillas got a huge output from Eric Brown, including a grand slam and the game-winning RBI in the 10th inning for a 12-11 win over the Edinburg Roadrunners in front of 1,658 fans at the Amarillo National Bank Dilla Villa. The win gives the Dillas a 2-1 series win over Edinburg and sends them to the United League Championship Series against the San Angelo Colts, starting tomorrow.

The Roadrunners scored first in the third inning. Cameron McGuire led off with a walk, and was followed by a Wilmer Pino RBI double. Vince Blue singled to move Pino to third, who scored on an error. Blue would come across on a sacrifice fly by Sergio Guerrero. Edinburg put two more on the board in the fourth as Guerrero singled home two more runs for a 5-0 lead.

Amarillo was able to push through in the fourth inning as well, as Carlos Figueroa walked, Angel Reyes and Trent Lockwood followed with singles to load the bases. Brown stepped up and powered an 1-0 pitch over the left-center field wall for the first grand slam of the season to bring the Dillas within one at 5-4.

The Dillas tied the game in the fifth on an RBI sacrifice fly by Reyes. Edinburg responded with three more runs in the sixth, two on sacrifice flies for an 8-5 advantage. Amarillo scored two runs in the sixth on Keanon Simon's 2-RBI single, but were in a jam in the top of the seventh.

Amarillo finally took the lead in the seventh as Terrance McClain walked, followed by a Reyes RBI double tied the game. After Reyes advanced to third, Lockwood hit a sacrifice fly to left to give the Dillas their first lead of the game. Simon ended the inning with an RBI double to score Wenger. The Dillas added an insurance run in the eighth as McClain doubled home Stantrel Smith for an 11-8 lead.

Rain starting pouring immediately after the eighth and put the game into a 55-minute delay. Following the delay, Noonan came in and allowed the tying run to score to tie the game 11-11.

In the 10th inning, Amarillo took the lead for good as McClain walked, went to third on a Reyes single and, following a Lockwood walk, scored on Brown's bases-loaded walk for a 12-11 win.

With the win, the Dillas win the first-round series 2-1 over the Roadrunners.
