Entire Gems Infield Named to All-Star Team

KLAMATH FALLS, OR - The Klamath Falls Gems today announced the naming of five players to the West Coast League All-Star team. After balloting by fans, League coaches and scouts was completed today, the Gems will be sending their entire infield to the 2012 WCL All-Star Game. Catcher Josh Graham (U. of Oregon), 1B Josh Wong (Hawaii-Hilo), 2B Parker Miles (Chemetka JC), SS Tanner Nielsen (Campbellsville) and 3B Austin Byler (Nevada-Reno) will be going to Walla Walla for the July 24 game.

Graham, an incoming freshman to the University of Oregon, is hitting .303 with one home run and nine RBI through 19 games.

Wong, an upcoming senior at the University of Hawaii Hilo is hitting .351 with three home runs and 22 RBI through 30 games. He is in the top six in all three categories.

Miles, a junior at Chemetka JC is hitting a league high .375 with two home runs and 22 RBI through 25 games. His .375 average leads the WCL.

Nielsen, a junior at Campbellsville University is hitting .284 with seven RBI through 19 games.

Byler, a sophomore at University of Reno is hitting second in the league .370 with league-leading 6 home runs with 20 RBI through 23 games.

The Gems are members of the West Coast League, a nine-team professional style wood-bat summer college league. The WCL features pro prospects from major conferences across the country. More than 130 WCL alums are playing affiliated professional baseball this season, and more than 15 ex-WCL stars played in the Major Leagues this season.
