Wenatchee AppleSox News Release

(Wenatchee, Wash.)- Great news came on Tuesday, when it was announced Wenatchee AppleSox have placed four players on the 2012 West Coast League's East Division All-Star team.

Today, the West Coast League released its list of players who have been selected to play in the 2012 West Coast League All-Star Game presented by NAPA, which will be played on July 24, 2012. The AppleSox selected were infielder Mitchell Gunsolus, outfielder Ty Moore and pitchers Derek Callahan and Tyler Kane.

This season, Gunsolus has ranked near the top of the WCL in batting average the entire season. The Gonzaga product is hitting .353 with 28 RBI. His batting average ranks fifth in the WCL, while his 28 RBI leads the league.

Ty Moore, who just recently turned down an offer to play with the New York Yankees organization to follow through with his commitment to UCLA, joined the AppleSox in mid-June but made an immediate impact. Moore is hitting .272 with nine RBI -- two of which came in walk-off wins versus Kitsap. Moore has had a solid defensive presence for the Sox in center field.

Derek Callahan and Tyler Kane have essentially been thunder and lightning on the mound for the AppleSox this season. Callahan leads the league in strikeouts (43) and is currently in the starting rotation for the Sox with a 1.67 ERA. Kane, who has primarily been used as a closer, holds a 1.40 ERA and just tied the WCL record for saves in a single season (11).
