New England Revolution News Release
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution will train two days this week in preparation its upcoming pair of matches. On Thursday, May 3, the Revs will travel to rival D.C. United for a 7 p.m. game that will be televised live nationally on ESPN2, before returning home to host the Chicago Fire at Gillette Stadium at 5 p.m., Sunday, May 6.
With a midweek road game, the Revs will train on Tuesday (Lower Practice Field) and Saturday (Stadium Field) at Gillette Stadium. Both sessions are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
NEW ENGLAND VS. DC SERIES INFORMATION
- United leads the overall series against New England, 22-17-5, in MLS regular-season games
- New England is 6-14-2 in regular-season games played in Washington ... the Revs own an 11-8-3 record at home against D.C., including a 5-2-3 mark at Gillette Stadium.
- Last season, the two teams split the four-game season series, 1-1-2, and the teams were knotted in total goals scored, 4-4
- The Revolution is 9-7-5 against United under head coach Steve Nicol, including a shootout victory in 1999 when he was interim head coach
- The teams have met in three postseason series with D.C. owning a 2-1-1 edge in those matches ... the Revs defeated D.C., 1-0, on Nov. 5, 2006 to win the Eastern Conference Championship for the second consecutive season
- The Revolution won the teams' only meeting in the U.S. Open Cup - a 2-0 victory in the semifinal round of the 2001 tournament.
- United leads the Revs in all-time in all competitions, 24-19-6, including MLS Cup Playoff and U.S. Open Cup matches

- Taylor Twellman leads New England with career goals (12) against United, one of three team against which he's scored 10 or more goals ... four of his goals have been game-winning strikes ... Twellman has also recorded three multiple-goal games against D.C.
- Taylor Twellman recorded his first career hat trick on Sept. 7, 2002 at Gillette Stadium in a 3-0 victory for New England against D.C.
- Andy Dorman and Steve Ralston have each scored two goals against D.C., the Revs' next-highest goal scorers against their Eastern Conference rivals
- Steve Ralston leads the Revs in career assists (11), against D.C, including five while with the Revolution
- Andy Dorman and Jay Heaps have each recorded four assists against United in their New England careers.
- Matt Reis has posted a 1.26 goals against average against United with a 5-6-4 record including three shutouts with both Los Angeles and New England
- Matt Reis has played more games in goal (13) against United than any other Revolution keeper
- Back-up keeper Doug Warren, a former D.C. player, made his only New England start against his former team in 2005.

New England earned a 2-1 victory over D.C. United on Oct. 7, 2006, in the teams' last MLS regular-season meeting ... Taylor Twellman's 75th career goal proved to be the game-winner in the 47th minute ... after eventual MLS MVP Christian Gomez put United ahead in the 26th minute, Clint Dempsey leveled the score in the 34th minute, sending the teams into halftime tied at 1-1 ... Twellman's strike - off a corner kick minutes into the second half - put New England ahead and the Revs' defense withstood a building D.C. attack to hold on for the win ... D.C. out-shot the Revolution, 22-11, and New England goalkeeper Matt Reis made six saves in the win.

Taylor Twellman scored his second postseason goal in the fourth minute as the Revs earned a 1-0 victory against United in the 2006 Eastern Conference Championship at RFK Stadium ... Twellman volleyed in a Pat Noonan pass just four minutes into the game to put the Revolution ahead for good ... D.C. out-shot the Revs, 18-6, and Matt Reis made eight saves to post a 1-0 shutout for the second consecutive year in the conference championship ... the victory sent the Revolution to MLS Cup for the second consecutive season and for the third time in club history.
NEW ENGLAND VS. CHICAGO SERIES INFORMATION
- New England holds a slight edge in the all-time, regular-season series between the two teams, 12-11-6
- Chicago won the teams' earlier meeting this season, a 1-0 victory behind Logan Pause's fourth-minute goal in the season opener at Toyota Park

Logan Pause's fourth-minute goal, his first career goal which appeared to deflect of a Revs defender, was all Chicago needed to earn a season-opening victory over the rival Revolution on April 7 at Toyota Park ... four Revs players made their first-ever professional appearances, including three rookies who started the game: forward Adam Cristman and midfielders Wells Thompson and Gary Flood ... New England out-shot Chicago, 18-11, and Andy Dorman had a career-high seven shots - including three on goal - in the loss.
NEWS & NOTES
Undefeated In the Last Three
With the team's victory at Dallas on Sunday, the Revolution has pushed its undefeated streak to three games ... in the last 11 MLS regular-season games dating back to the end of 2006, New England is 7-1-3 with the only loss coming in the 2007 season opener at Chicago.
Comforts on the Road
New England has opened the 2007 season playing four of its first five games - and six of its first eight game - on the road ... so far, New England is 1-1-1 away from home this season ... heading to D.C. on Thursday, New England has won its last two games played at RFK Stadium, including the 2006 Eastern Conference Championship, where the Revs earned a 1-0 victory to advance to MLS Cup 2006.
Home Mark on the Line Sunday
On Sunday, when the Revs return home to Gillette Stadium, their eight-game undefeated streak (including the 2006 playoffs) will be on the line ... during the recent run, the Revolution is 6-0-2 and has out-scored its opponents, 14-4 ... the Revs last defeat at home came via a 1-0 loss to Chicago on Aug. 20, 2006.
Twellman Is Tops Again
Forward Taylor Twellman, who has scored more goals than anyone in MLS since 2002 when he came into the league, is again leading the league in goals scored ... Twellman's four goals in four games is tops in MLS after the first month of play ... his goal on Sunday at Dallas was the 79th of his career, and moved him into a seventh-place tie on the MLS career goals list with former Kansas City and Miami All-Star - and current Chivas USA head coach - Preki.
Ralston's Rolling
Steve Ralston's assist on Twellman's game-winning goal on Sunday against Dallas was his 110th career assist ... Ralston is now two assists shy of second place on the MLS career assists list, just behind Preki's mark of 112 ... Ralston is also four assists behind former Tampa Bay teammate Carlos Valderrama's MLS career record of 114.
Parkhurst Returns
Central defender Michael Parkhurst - the 2005 MLS Gatorade Rookie of the Year - made his first appearance of the 2007 season on Sunday at Dallas, starting and playing all 90 minutes ... he missed the first three games of the season after suffering a dislocated left shoulder on March 11 in Cancun, Mexico.
Reis' Pieces
Matt Reis posted his second shutout of the 2007 season on Sunday against Dallas, recording two saves in the effort ... it was his second straight clean sheet against the Hoops, including a 1-0 blanking last June 28 at Gillette Stadium ... since the start of the 2005 season, Reis has recorded 22 shutouts.
Reserves Return to Action
The Revs' reserves will play their second game of the season on Sunday, May 6, immediately following the first team's game against Chicago ... the reserve squad is 1-0 on the season after a 3-2 victory over Toronto's reserves on April 15 at Gillette Stadium ... Miguel Gonzalez and Willie Sims scored in the game, while Wells Thompson notched the game-winner in the 85th minute.
