DES MOINES, IA - The Iowa Energy outscored the Sioux Falls Skyforce 42-20 in the 4th quarter to win their season opener 113-101. Sioux Falls built a 15 point lead in the 3rd quarter before the Energy reeled off 15 straight points to even the game. That momentum carried over into the fourth quarter as the Energy coasted to the division win.

Courtney Sims, a 6'11" center from Michigan, had 22 points, 17 rebounds and 11 blocked shots to lead the Energy. Rookie Othyus Jeffers had 23 points and 13 rebounds and Curtis Stinson added 27 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists for the victors.

"It was a little bit of a weird game," said Energy Head Coach Nick Nurse. "There were a number of big runs by both teams, and we were fortunate to have a little more left in the 4th quarter. Anytime you can go into Sioux Falls and get a win, it's big for your team. We have a lot of things to improve on, but we'll take a win anytime we can get one on the road."

The Skyforce, who made the NBA D-League semifinals last season, were considered by many observers to be the favorites to win the league title this season. Fran Williams, a former 1st round pick by the New York Knicks, led the Skyforce with 28 points.

The Energy held the Skyforce to 37.8% shooting from the field and held a 35 to 14 advantage in free throws made in the game.

Iowa heads to Bismarck, ND to take on the Dakota Wizards Saturday night at 7 pm. That game can be heard on 1460 AM, KXNO.

The Energy return to Des Moines for their home opener on Thursday, December 4th. Season tickets and single game tickets are available by calling 515-462-2849 or visiting www.iowanba.com.
