Energy Select Utah As First Round Playoff Opponent - Home Opener Friday

Published on April 5, 2010 under NBA G League (G League) News Release

NEW YORK, April 4, 2010 - The Eastern Conference Champion Iowa Energy, the top seed in the upcoming 2010 NBA D-League playoffs, selected the seventh seeded Utah Flash as their opponent in the first round of the 2010 NBA Development League playoffs, it was announced today following a teleconference held with the League's eight playoff-bound teams. The teams will tip off the 2010 NBA D-League playoffs on Wednesday, April 7, when the Flash host the Energy at 8:00 p.m. CT at the McKay Event Center in the first game of the best-of-three series which will conclude at Iowa for games two and three, if necessary.

Iowa and Utah met one time this season, a 126-112 Energy victory in Utah. The Energy playoff lineup will look far different from the one that won in Utah on February 20th as four players who combined for 74 points are no longer with the Energy. Center Earl Barron is now with the New York Knicks, while wings Othyus Jeffers (Jazz) and Cartier Martin (Wizards) are also now in the NBA. Without three regular starters, the Energy will look to point guard Curtis Stinson and veterans Pat Carroll, Jeff Trepagnier and Mark Tyndale to carry the load.

The winner of the Iowa/Utah series will face the winner of the Sioux Falls/Tulsa series in the D-League semifinals.

Tickets for Friday night's home playoff opener are now on sale by calling 564-8550 or visiting www.dahlstickets.com.
