OKC Energy FC News Release
Energy FC (10th, 5-5-7, 22 points) are back on the road after a six-match, league unbeaten run came to an end last Saturday, with a 4-1 loss at home to Phoenix Rising FC. The Greens head west to take on Las Vegas Lights FC (9th, 6-6-4, 22 points, who have had a bit of a resurgence as of late, winning their last two matches over New Mexico United, 5-1, and El Paso Locomotive FC, 1-0, to take them above Energy FC in the Western Conference standings. The Lights have also been very impressive at home this year, winning five and drawing two of their seven matches at Cashman Field.
OKC and Vegas have met once this season, with the Greens winning 2-1 in the home opener at Taft. Deshorn Brown opened the scoring in the 13th minute with an assist from Alexy Bosetti before Javan Torre equalized in the 58th. Omar Gordon won the match for Energy FC in the 78th minute off a feed from Cordell Cato.
Both encounters between the clubs in 2018, Light FC's inaugural season, were memorable. Energy FC did the double with a thrilling 6-4 victory at Taft Stadium in July and 1-0 win at Cashman Field in September. In that second meeting, Jonathan Brown assisted on Deshorn Brown's first goal for the Greens.
With Trinidad and Tobago not advancing out of group play at the Concacaf Gold Cup, Cato, Alvin Jones and Mekeil Williams will all be joining up with the team and available for selection. Je-Vaughn Watson and Jamaica advanced to the quarterfinals, so the Greens will be without his services for at least another week. Atiba Harris will also miss the match through suspension after picking up a yellow card against Phoenix.
