Energy Dominates Mad Ants

DES MOINES, Iowa, February 16, 2009- Player of the Game Patrick Sanders scored 29 points, converting 11-of-11 field goal attempts, 3-for-3 from behind the arc, and 4-of-4 behind the free throw line as the Iowa Energy defeated by the Fort Wayne Mad Ants 130-95 Monday afternoon at Wells Fargo Arena. The Energy win moves their record to 18-8.

Six additional members of the Energy squad contributed double digits in the President's Day matinee action, including Demetris Nichols (24 points), Marvin Phillips (21 points), Othyus Jeffers (11 points) and Brian Evans (10 points). Anthony Tolliver added 19 points and 11 rebounds while Curtis Stinson finished the game with 14 points and 15 assists.

The two teams battled for the lead for much of the first half of the game. At halftime the Mad Ants led 30-28, but a second half surge ended with the Energy winning by 35 points.

Chris Hunter led the Mad Ants' offense by scoring 18 points while Carl Elliott added 14 points and dished out 10 assists. Also contributing double figures for Fort Wayne were Ron Howard (14 points) and Taj McCullough (12 points).

The Energy will next leave for a three game road trip, stopping in Colorado on Tuesday, Idaho on Thursday, and Utah on Saturday. On Monday, February 23rd, the Energy will return to Wells Fargo Arena for a match up against the Erie BayHawks at 7 p.m.
