Energy Announce 2012-13 Schedule

DES MOINES, IA, August 30, 2012 - The Iowa Energy will host the Ft. Wayne Mad Ants on Saturday, December 1st in their home opener this season, the team announced today. Eighteen of the Energy's twenty-four home games will be weekend games, an all-time high for the franchise.

Iowa, which will attempt to become the first franchise in NBA D-League history to earn five consecutive playoff berths, opens the season on the road at rival Sioux Falls on Saturday, November 24th.

"This is an ideal schedule from a fans' perspective, with nearly all of our games on the weekend and a variety of teams coming to play here, we are excited to get the ball in the air," said General Manager Chris Makris.

The league also announced that CBS Sports Network for the first time will present regular season and postseason games. The upcoming season includes an all-time high 11 NBA D-League teams having single-affiliation relationships with their NBA parent clubs.

NBA TV will present over 30 games this season, including its NBA D-League Game of the Week airing each Sunday during the regular season. The network will also provide extensive coverage during the NBA D-League Showcase and the NBA D-League All-Star Game taking place in Houston during NBA All-Star 2013. In addition, NBA TV will cover the race for the NBA D-League title when it airs postseason games.

The 2012-13 NBA D-League season will feature three divisions, East (Canton, Erie, Fort Wayne Mad Ants, Maine, and Springfield Armor), Central (Austin, Iowa Energy, Rio Grande Valley Vipers, Sioux Falls Skyforce, Texas and Tulsa), and West (Bakersfield, Idaho Stampede, Los Angeles D-Fenders, Reno, and the Warriors' NBA D-League team).

The Energy expect to announce some player signings within the next thirty days. The full roster will be put together in early November after the annual NBA D-League Draft.
