
Ems Continue Their Hunt for a Title

EUGENE, OR - The Eugene Emeralds are gearing up for a run at the Northwest League title. The Ems will have to best the Hillsboro Hops in a three-game series, starting Wednesday, September 7, in Hillsboro. Game two on Thursday, September 8, will be at PK Park, and if necessary, game three on Friday, September 9, will also be in Eugene.
Get to PK Park early on Thursday to get an Emeralds Playoff Rally Towel. The first 1,000 fans will get a towel upon entry to the stadium at the home plate gate.
The Ems finished the regular season with a 54-22 record. They had the best overall record in the Northwest League by nine games. Pitchers, Dylan Cease and Manuel Rondon and manager, Jesus Feliciano were named to the Northwest League Year-End All-Star Team. Rondon will start game one of the playoffs, followed by Bryan Hudson in game two.
This is the first time the Eugene Emeralds have made the playoffs since 2011.
The Eugene Emeralds are the short-season Class A team of the Chicago Cubs. In 2015, six of the top 30 Cubs prospects spent time in Eugene including Ian Happ, Donnie Dewees and Eloy Jimenez. With 61 years of history in Eugene, the Emeralds are the longest tenured and only founding member remaining in the Northwest League.
