Emeralds Top Boise on Big Night for Offenses

BOISE, Idaho - The Eugene Emeralds hit three home runs and first-round pick Donovan Tate drove in four runs, helping the team to a 14-10 victory over the Boise Hawks at Memorial Stadium.

Tate roped a two-run double in the first inning to give the Ems a 3-0 lead, adding a two-run triple in the fourth, giving the visitors a 8-4 lead. Kyle Gaedele hit a solo homer in the fourth, his third homer of the series, while Lee Orr slammed a two-run shot in the seventh to make it 11-5, and Jose lined a solo home run shot in the night to make it 14-7.

The Hawks were in catch-up mode the entire night, as Pin-Chieh Chen went 3-for-3 with five RBI in the loss - including a two-run home run in the seventh inning and an RBI triple in the ninth. Reggie Golden also smaked his third home run in the ninth inning to cap the scoring.

Boise starter Yao-Lin Wang struggled in his shortest outing of the season, laboring through two-plus innings, allowing five runs and five walks, striking out six.

The Hawks continue their eight-game homestand tonight, starting a three-game series with Tri-City at 7:15 p.m., with Jose Rosario meeting Ricardo Ferrer.

Notes - Dustin Harrington became the first Hawks position player to pitch in a game this season, allowing Dore's homer, but also striking out one...the five RBI by Chen was the most by a Boise Hawks player in 2011...Willson Contreras had two hits, his third-straight multi-hit game.
