Bears Pedrotty NWL Pitcher of the Week
August 15, 2011 - Northwest League (NWL1)
Yakima Bears News Release
The Yakima Bears have received word from Minor League Baseball that pitcher John Pedrotty has been named the Northwest League Pitcher of the week for the period of August 8th through August 14th.
Pedrotty made two starts and went 1-1 with an unearned run being the only tally against him in 12 innings of work. The lefty recorded 15 strikeouts in the two games and allowed only six hits and two walks.
In his most recent outing, Pedrotty tossed six no-hit innings against Vancouver in what finished as a combined two-hit shutout win for the Bears on Saturday.
After struggling early in the season, the first-year pro has started the month of August with three consecutive quality starts. With a 3.11 ERA, Pedrotty is currently ninth in the Northwest League for lowest ERA among qualifying pitchers.
Pedrotty was selected in the 13th round of the 2011 Draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks out of Holy Cross, where he had earned All-Patriot League honors this spring.
Mini plans and individual game tickets are on sale now at the downtown Bears office at 17 N. 3rd Street, Suite 101 and online at yakimabears.com.
