Eugene Emeralds News Release
Eugene scored six runs in the eighth inning to come back and beat Vancouver 7-4 for their fifth straight win.
Nick Swiney was given the ball at the beginning of the game. He pitched a strong game as he didn't allow a single run, hit, or walk in five innings. Before his relief came into the game, he struck out eight batters.
The Emeralds jumped on the board first as Luis Toribio hit his 19th home run of the season over the right-center field wall.
The scoring stayed silent until the top of the seventh inning. Vancouver got on the board after designated hitter Rainer Nunez hit an RBI single to tie the game. Later that inning, third baseman Riley Tirotta hit a three-run home run to left field to take a three run lead.
Eugene took the game back in the bottom of the eighth inning. It started with a single hit by Carter Williams, which led to Max Wright crossing the plate. The next batter, Jairo Pomares, hit his 14th home run of the season to right field to make the score 5-4.
The night ended with another Toribio home run to add the Emeralds' seventh and final run of the night.
The Emeralds will look for their 65th win of the season during the fifth game of the season. For Marvel Superhero night, the team will wear specialty Hulk uniforms. The first pitch will be thrown at 5:05 pm PT, and the game will be available to watch on MiLB.TV.
