
Emeralds End Series on a 5-4 Loss to Spokane

Eugene loses a close one to end the six-game homestand against the Spokane Indians.
Keaton Winn took the mound for the Emeralds. In four innings, he allowed six hits, three runs, two walks, and struck out five.
Spokane's Mateo Gill singled on a ground ball to third base in the second inning to get the first run on the board. An error by Carter Aldrete led to another runner coming home to make the score 2-0 in the second inning.
An inning later, catcher Hunter Goodman hit a sacrifice fly to center field, which led to shortstop Julio Carreras scoring.
Eugene hopped on the board in the bottom of the third inning after Vaun Brown's sixth home run over the center field wall.
The Emeralds scored again in the fifth inning after Riley Mahan doubled on a fly ball to center field. Carter Aldrete scored to make it 2-3. Later on in the inning, Brown sent another ball to Spokane's center fielder, Bladimir Restituyo, and both Mahan and Luis Toribio came home to take a 4-3 lead.
Carreras hit an RBI single to center field in the sixth inning to tie the game.
In the top of the seventh inning, the Indians' first baseman Colin Simpson hit an RBI groundout, and Goodman scored the night's final run.
The Eugene Emeralds and the rest of Minor League Baseball will head into All-Star Break and resume play on July 22nd against the Everett Aquasoxs on the road.
