
Elmira's Sgroi Suspended Five Games, Fined
March 16, 2009 - ECHL (ECHL) News Release
PRINCETON, N.J. - The ECHL announced that it has suspended Elmira forward
Mike Sgroi for five games and fined him an undisclosed amount as a result
of his actions in ECHL Game #711 at Dayton on Mar. 14.
Sgroi was assessed a Game Misconduct under Rule 47.7 Fighting Off the
Playing Surface and a Game Misconduct under Rule 70.1 Leaving the Players
Bench at 7:09 of the second period.
He is suspended and fined under Rule 29 Supplemental Discipline.
Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the ECHL and
the Professional Hockey Players' Association, player fines collected by the
ECHL are given to the PHPA for its ECHL Player's Hardship Fund.
Sgroi will miss Elmira's games vs. Trenton (Mar. 17), vs. Johnstown (Mar.
20), vs. Johnstown (Mar. 21), at Johnstown (Mar. 22) and at Reading (Mar.
25).
