Previewing the Upcoming Week:
2/1 at Toledo - 7:05 p.m., Home vs. TOL 0-0-0, Away vs. TOL 0-0-0
The season series between Elmira and Toledo won't have much depth to it because Friday's meeting at the Huntington Center is the only one of the season. It could prove to be crucial to tiebreaking procedures, though, because the Jackals and Walleye enter the week separated by two points in the Eastern Conference standings. The Jackals were a spotless 3-0-0 against Toledo including wins in each of their two trips to the Huntington Center, last season. All-time the Jackals have an 8-6-1 record against the Walleye with a 6-5-0 mark in Toledo. The Walleye are led by forwards Willie Coetzee (18G, 19A in 42 games) and Andrej Nestrasil (10G, 26A in 34 games) as well as goalie Jordan Pierce (12-7-1, 2.48 GAA, .909 SVP).
2/2 at Evansville - 8:15 p.m. ET, Home vs. EVN 1-0-1, Away vs. EVN 1-0-0
The Jackals wrap up their season series with Evansville on Saturday night with their second-ever visit to the Ford Center. The Jackals and IceMen have had an interesting dynamic to their rivalry in which the team that has scored first has lost each game. Elmira coasted to a 6-3 win in Evansville on Dec. 27 after falling behind 2-0 in the first period. When the scene shifted to Elmira in mid-January the teams split a pair of overtime contests with the Jackals again coming back from down 2-0 to win 3-2 on Jan. 11. Evansville will be playing desperate hockey as it tries to get back into the playoff picture. The IceMen enter the week with the fewest wins (16) and points (36) in the Eastern Conference. They have also played the third most games at 46.
