Tonight is the third of 16 scheduled meetings between the Jackals and Royals this season, and the second of eight games between the teams at First Arena. The Jackals are 1-0-1 against the Royals this season dropping a 2-1 OT decision in Reading on November 14. Elmira's offense is on a roll coming into this game with 12 goals in its last two contests. Jack Downing (2G, 4A), Jean Bourbeau (4G), Artem Demkov (2G, 3A), and Andrew Rowe (2G, 3A) have been leading the offensive charge. Jordan Pietrus will also be worth watching because two of his three goals this season have come against the Royals. The Jackals will contend with a Reading defense that ranks fifth in the league with a 2.73 team goals-against average, as well as goalie Philipp Grubauer who is fourth in the league with a 2.23 goals-against average.
After going 4-7-1 in the month of November, the Jackals are looking to December to return to their winning ways. They have earned three of a possible four points through the month so far after beating Trenton and losing to the Titans in a shootout last weekend. Last season the Jackals used an 11-2-0 December to springboard them to a club-record 45 win regular season. That came on the heels of a 6-6-0 November. In their history in the ECHL the Jackals have gone 35-24-7 in December. Last season was their most successful December followed by the 2007-08 season with nine wins in the month.
Mark your calendars! The Jackals are back on First Arena ice on Saturday, December 8, 2012 to take on the Reading Royals at 7:05 p.m. The Jackals are hosting their annual Teddy Bear Toss! Fans are asked to bring a new stuffed animal to the game and throw it onto the ice when the Jackals score their first goal. The tossed Teddy Bears will be donated to Toys for Tots and Glove House. Groups of 10 or more are eligible for discounted tickets and preferred seating based on availability.Call 607-734-7825 to book your group outing. Pro-rated season ticket packages are on sale, as well. Season tickets offer the best value for Jackals fans.
