Rockford RiverHawks News Release
The Rockford RiverHawks managed to get the job done once again tonight as they defeated the Cook County Cheetahs 3-2. Rockford (23-19) scored two runs in the first inning and never trailed the rest of the game. Cook County (21-23) tied the ball game in the fifth inning 2-2 and RiverHawk starter Frank James (5-2) picked up the win. Shaff Elkouri drove in the game winning run in the seventh as pinch runner Kiley Vaughn scored on Elkouri's RBI single up the middle.
The RiverHawks will take the field again tomorrow night as they look to sweep the Cook County Cheetahs before heading to River City for a three game set versus the Rascals. Justin Dowdy will take the hill tomorrow for the âHawks making his first start of the season. Stephens will face Dowdy in the 7:05 show down. ESPN Radio, WREX and Amcore Bank will present Softee ball giveaway for the first 1,000 fans in attendance.
Midwest Championship Wrestling will be at Marinelli Field on July 12. The action starts at 7:00 p.m., with gates opening at 6:00. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased by calling the RiverHawks at 964-BALL.
The Rockford RiverHawks are hosting a Los Lobos concert in the Marinelli Field parking lot on Sunday, July 27. Gates open at 12:00 p.m. and the concert begins at 1:00 p.m. People who have tickets to the concert will get into the game for free and concessions will be open. Tickets are on sale now.
