
Eleven Isles/Rocket Alumni Begin American Hockey League Season

Charlottetown Islanders News Release
The 2020-2021 American Hockey League season began this past weekend and a number of Charlottetown Islanders/Prince Edward Island Rocket alumni found their way on to opening night rosters. In total, eleven former players were listed on season-opening AHL rosters, with six seeing in-game action:
Ryan MacKinnon - Bridgeport Sound Tigers
Antoine Bibeau - Chicago Wolves
Gregor MacLeod - Grand Rapids Griffins
Shawn Boudrias - Iowa Wild
Jimmy Oligny - Manitoba Moose*
Patrick McGrath - Rochester Americans*
Hunter Drew - San Diego Gulls
Alex Dostie - San Diego Gulls
Nicolas Meloche - San Jose Barracuda
Alex Gallant - Stockton Heat*
Josh Currie - Wilkes Barre-Scranton Penguins*
*denotes Prince Edward Rocket alumni
In addition to the list above, Ottawa Senators forward Filip Chlapik was assigned to their affiliate, the Belleville Senators on Monday.
The American Hockey League serves as the primary development league for the National Hockey League. 31 teams operate within the league, each serving as a direct affiliate for an NHL team while vying for the Calder Cup. During this pandemic-shortened season 28 of those teams will operate regionally to carry out a safe season.
