Reno Silver Sox News Release


The Reno Silver Sox, a member of the Golden Baseball League, are proud to announce that they will be hosting their first official "Presidential Straw Poll," on August 4. During the game against the Los Angeles Armada the fans of the Silver Sox will have a chance to voice their opinions about the upcoming Presidential Election.

All candidates from both parties that have announced their intention to run for President have been invited to attend this event. Representatives from the accoutning firm Mayhorn Financial will be present to verify the results of the voting.

Each candidate will have an opportunity to speak with fans before the voting begins.

"With Nevada being one of the first states with a primary this election, we thought it would be a great idea to give the candidates a real platform to get their ideas out to Nevadans," states Silver Sox General Manager Curt Jacey.

As always, the night will be full of fun as the first 500 people through the gate will receive a logo ball courtesy of Bill Pearce Motors. Each fan will also receive a piece of straw to commerate the evening.

The Reno Silver Sox added and released two pitchers over the weekend.

Adam Nikolic was the pitcher released this weekend. Nikolic had a 3-1 record with a 5.19 ERA. Nikolic also had two saves for the Silver Sox.

Replacing Nikolic on the roster is pitcher Chris Saenz. Saenz was just released from AA Arkansas an affiliate for the Los Angeles Angels. Saenz had a 1 - 7 record with an 8.41 ERA. Saenz was originally drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in 2001 in the 28th round. After spending three years in the minors, Saenz was called up by the Brewers and started one gamen in 2004. Saenz pitched six innings for the Brewers and allowed only two hits with striking out seven.
