Ejections Spark Late Inning Rally

Quad Cities dropped the continuation of Tuesday's series opener 9-7, before taking the second game 10-9. The Bandits trailed most of the way in game two leading up to the ejection of manager Johnny Rodriguez in the fifth inning. Outfielder Devin Shepherd was then tossed in the sixth sparking eight Bandit runs in the final two innings of game two, giving the Bandits the one run edge.

The Bandits and Rattlers continued play of last night's game in the third inning at 10 a.m. Scott Schneider (2-1) took the hill for Quad Cities, relieving Deryk Hooker who threw two scoreless surrendering just one hit and fanning three before play was suspended yesterday. Schneider pitched four innings allowing six runs on seven hits. He struck out six and walked three. Schneider was saddled with his first loss of the season. Kyle Heckathorn (1-2) picked up his first win of the season going four innings, allowing two runs on four hits. Andre Lamontagne (1) recorded his first save of 2010 pitching a scoreless ninth against the Bandits.

The bats caught fire as the Bandits scored seven runs on ten hits in the series opener. Ryan Jackson and Edgar Lara each hit a round tripper in game one, Jackson's first and Lara's second. The Bandits had seven extra base hits in the game while, Devin Shepherd, Ivan Castro, Luis Mateo, D'Marcus Ingram, and Jason Stidham each added a double. Castro, Mateo, Ingram, and Stidham all drove in a run. Matt Adams and Ingram were each 2-for-4 in game one.

Eric Fornataro made his sixth start of the season in game two. He went four innings allowing eight runs, five earned while fanning two. Justin Smith (1-0) chalked up his first win as a River Bandit. He allowed just one run over two innings, punching out three. Aaron Terry (5) recorded his fifth save of the year allowing just one hit in the ninth. Chad Robinson (0-2) was charged with his second loss of the season blowing a save opportunity. He allowed four runs in the ninth on three hits.

Stidham led the way going 1-for-3 with a double, four RBI, and two runs scored. Ryde Rodriguez and Niko Vasquez each drove in a trio of runs. Rodriguez was 2-for-4, while Vasquez was 1-for-2 with a triple and three walks. Ingram and Adams each added a pair of hits, Ingram had a double and three runs scored and Adams crossed the plate twice for the Bandits. Rattlers' outfielder Khris Davis was 4-for-4 with two doubles and a home run, driving in a pair in game two.

The River Bandits and Timber Rattlers finish their three game series on Thursday when left-hander Del Howell takes on Bandit righty, Jorge Rondon. Game time is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton, Wisconsin.
