Eighth Inning Rally Leads Patriots to 4-3 Win

Bridgewater, NJ- An RBI single by Joe Burke with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning brought home the winning run for the Patriots as they defeated the Road Warriors 4-3 at TD Bank Ballpark on Wednesday afternoon.

A three run homerun by Carlos Sosa (11) to center field in the first inning gave the Road Warriors an early 3-0 lead.

The Patriots got on the board in the bottom of the second after Justin Huber walked and John Pachot drove an RBI single to right to cut the lead to 3-1.

Somerset chipped away at the lead and scored a run in each the third and fourth innings to even up the score. A sacrifice fly by Norris Hopper brought home Wayne Lydon and a bases loaded single by Lydon the following inning brought home Huber.

Patriots reliever Jeff Kennard (2-2) got the win after an inning of work where he struck out all three batters. Brian McCullough (1-2) suffered the loss for the Road Warriors, allowing a run in 1.2 innings pitched. Andrew Dobies picked up his fifth save of the season after pitching a scoreless ninth inning.

The 2011 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue on the road until Friday, July 15th when the Patriots return to TD Bank Ballpark for a 7:05 pm game against the Camden Riversharks.
