The Myrtle Beach Pelicans fell for the third time in the series to the Lynchburg Hillcats 10-3 on Saturday evening. The Pelicans' record now stands at 66-35 and 19-16 second half. Lynchburg improved to 49-52 and 14-21 in the second half with the victory. The Hillcats will head into Sunday's finale with a chance to hand the Pelicans their first loss in a six-game series.

Felix Stevens (2-3, HR, 2B, 2 RBI, BB) had the hot bat for the Pelicans by driving in two of their three runs. Parker Chavers (2-4, RBI) brought home the other run and logged a multi-hit game. The Pelicans stranded eight runners on and went 2-for-9 with runners in scoring position.

Jose Romero (0-1) took the loss in relief by getting just one out with six earned runs allowed off three hits and two walks. Anthony Mendez allowed two earned runs out of the bullpen in his 2 1/3 frames with four hits and two walks while striking out two.

It was another big night for the Hillcats lineup as five hitters posted multi-hit performances. Junior Sanquintin (2-5, HR, 2 RBI) hit his third home run of the week on a solo shot in the seventh. Yordys Valdes (1-5, 2B, 3 RBI) led the Hillcats with three RBI on a double. Dayan Frias (2-5, HR, 2 RBI) brought home two on a home run in the sixth.

Will Dion (6-4) earned the victory with six strikeouts across 5 2/3 innings. Dion allowed two runs with one being earned off five hits and a pair of walks. Tyler Thornton pitched the final two innings with the home run allowed to Stevens and three strikeouts.

For the seventh time in the last eight games, the Pelicans scored in their first at-bats. With two outs and runners on first and second, Stevens lined a double to center field to score and run and give Myrtle Beach a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first.

The lead would last until the top of the fourth when Isaiah Greene hit a triple to right field to lead off the inning. After a strikeout by Pelicans' starter Luis Rodriguez, Sanquintin lined a single up the middle to score Greene and tie the game.

It was a quick response for the Pelicans as Scott McKeon reached on a throwing error by Frias at third. With McKeon on second, Chavers singled to right to give the Pelicans the lead back 2-1.

After scoring seven runs in the ninth inning last night, the Hillcats would put together another big inning as eight runs scored in the top of the sixth. Romero came out of the bullpen with one out and a runner on first and gave up a walk to Marlin Made. After getting a flyout, Romero threw a wild pitch to score a run and move Made to second. Richard Paz followed with a single to right to give Lynchburg a 3-2 lead. The bases would load up off a single and a hit-by-pitch and Juan Benjamin walked to bring in another run. Valdes stepped in and cleared the bases on a line drive to center as the Hillcats opened their lead to 7-2. Mendez came out of the bullpen and gave up a two-run home run to Frias to right field as the Hillcats capped off their eight-run inning.

Lynchburg's final run came in the top of the seventh on a solo shot by Sanquintin to right field to make it 10-2.

Stevens homered on an opposite-field shot to right field in the bottom of the eighth for the Pelicans to cut the lead to 10-3.
