Amarillo Dillas News Release

AMARILLO, TX - Amarillo Dillas starting pitcher Dustin Taylor dominated the Coastal Bend Thunder on Friday night in eight strong innings of work as the Dillas took game two from the Thunder 6-2 in front of 2,817 fans at the Amarillo National Bank Dilla Villa.

Taylor (2-2) went eight innings and allowed only five hits and two runs and struck out four in the win. Coastal Bend starter Zach Beal (1-2) got the loss as he went one out short of five innings, giving up four runs before leaving with injury. Dillas first baseman Trent Lockwood went 2-4 with a three-run homerun while Terrance McClain went 3-4 with two runs in the effort.

Coastal Bend scored first in the third inning as Chris Lewis doubled, went to third on a sacrifice bunt and scored on Amadeo ZazuetA's RBI single. Amarillo would respond in the bottom half as Corey Lozano reached on an error, went to third on another error and scored on an Andrew Wong RBI double to tie the game 1-1.

McClain would score on an error in the fourth inning to move the Dillas ahead by one. Amarillo would extend their lead in the fifth inning as Wong was hit by a pitch, stole second and went to third on an error and scored on a Carlos Figueroa RBI single. After Beal left with an apparent hand injury, McClain singled and scored on Lockwood's eighth homerun of the season to move ahead 6-1.

That's all the offense Taylor would need as he allowed only three hits past the third inning.

Coastal Bend would add a run off Taylor in the eighth on a Leivi Ventura RBI single to move the score to 6-2. Coby Mavroulis pitched a perfect ninth to give Amarillo its eighth straight home victory.

With the win, the Dillas improve to 13-9, while the Thunder fall to 11-11. Saturday, Amarillo will host Coastal Bend for the third game of a four-game series at 7:05pm with Dillas Pre-Game set to begin at 6:55pm online via AudioSportsOnline.com. Gme time is tentative and is subject to blackout.
