Bradenton Marauders News Release
Bradenton, FL - The Florida State League office in Daytona Beach released the 2010 Florida State League Mid-Season All-Star teams for this year's game to be played in Viera, FL on Saturday, June 12th at Space Coast Stadium, the home of the Brevard County Manatees. The Bradenton Marauders, in their inaugural season, received eight all-star selections for the South Division, the most in the Florida State League. Voting was completed by Florida State League managers, official scorers and media representatives from around the league.
Pitcher Bryan Morris was selected to his first professional All-Star game, tallying the most votes out of any Florida State League All-Star selection. Morris, despite being promoted to Double-A Altoona on May 16th, still leads the FSL with a 0.60 ERA. Morris, the 26th overall pick in the 2006 draft, gave up only three earned runs in 44.2 innings of work, while striking out 40 batters and walking only seven.
Pitcher Nathan Adcock has also been selected to his first professional All-Star Game. The Kentucky native was named the FSL Pitcher of the Week on May 23rd after recording a 1-0 record with an ERA of 0.75 while striking out 12 batters. Adcock ranks in the FSL top 10 in wins (5), ERA (2.50), strikeouts (54), and WHIP (1.01).
Catcher Tony Sanchez has earned his first professional All-Star selection as well. The Pirates 2009 first round draft pick ranks in the FSL top 10 in runs (28), doubles (13), walks (25), on-base percentage (.423), and OPS (.881). The Boston College product was named as a 2009 finalist for the Johnny Bench Award for the nation's best catcher as well as a semi-finalist for the Golden Spikes Award, presented to the nation's best amateur player. Sanchez is currently ranked as the Pittsburgh Pirates third best prospect.
Pitcher Noah Krol was named to his second All-Star game as a professional, after being selected as a New York - Penn League mid-season All-Star in 2007. The Marauders closer ranks second in the Florida State League with 13 saves and his 22 appearances tie him for the Florida State League lead.
Pitcher Jeff Locke was selected to his third professional All-Star team. Locke earned dual All-Star honors in 2007 after being named to the Appalachian League post-season All-Star team and the Baseball America post-season All-Star team. The Marauders starter ranks third in the FSL with five wins.
Outfielder Quincy Latimore has been named to his first All-Star game as a professional. Latimore leads the Florida State League in grand slams with three and is ranked third in the league with 34 runs batted in. The Pirates fourth round selection in 2007 was also responsible for the Marauders first ever home run in franchise history.
Infielder Brock Holt, despite being called up to Bradenton a week after the FSL season began, ranks in the top 10 in hits (54), batting average (.333) and on-base percentage (.399). This is the first professional All-Star selection for Holt, who was drafted out of Rice University in the ninth round by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2009.
Infielder Jeremy Farrell has been named to his second professional All-Star team, previously being selected to the 2008 New York - Penn League mid-season All-Star squad. Farrell, the Pirates eighth round selection in 2009 out of the University of Virginia, ranks in the FSL top five in home runs (7), doubles (16), total bases (92), slugging percentage (.548), and OPS (.910).
