
Four From Fort Myers Selected To FSL All-Star Game

FORT MYERS, FL (May 28, 2010)-Florida State League President Chuck Murphy announced selections today for the 49th annual Florida State League All-Star Game. The Fort Myers Miracle were honored with pitchers Billy Bullock, Kyle Gibson, Bobby Lanigan and infielder Yangervis Solarte named to the South Division squad. The All-Star Game will by played at Space Coast Stadium, home of the Brevard County Manatees, on Saturday, June 12 at 7:35 P.M.
The team was selected by a vote of league managers, official scorers and club sports writers.
Bullock, a Minnesota Twins 2nd round selection out of the University of Florida in the June 2009 First-Year Player Draft, has struck out 34 batters in 25 1/3 innings pitched. He leads the Miracle with eight saves.
Lanigan, selected as a starting pitcher for the South, is currently on the disabled list and won't pitch until after the All-Star Game. The Staten Island, New York native is 2-1 with a 2.67 ERA in six starts.
Gibson and Solarte won't be able to participate after being promoted to Double-A New Britain. Gibson compiled a 4-1 record with a 1.87 ERA prior to his promotion, while Solarte was hitting .330 in 24 games with the Miracle.
The Miracle, who hosted the All-Star Game last year, have seen 18 players selected in the last three years, including a record eight in 2009.
North All-Star Team members represent Brevard County, Daytona, Tampa, Dunedin, Clearwater and Lakeland. The South All-Star Team represents St. Lucie, Bradenton, Charlotte, Palm Beach, Fort Myers and Jupiter.
The umpires selected for the game are: Home Plate - Ben May, 1st Base - Marcus Pattillo, 2nd Base - Ian Fazio, 3rd Base - Brandon Henson.
The All-Star Players, Coaches and Umpires will be honored at events during the All-Star Weekend.
