Edinburg Roadrunners News Release
The folks in Amarillo got an early July 4 as both teams lit up the field with a spectacular show of offensive firepower. Benny Craig set the tone for the evening in the first with a powerful 2-run HR, putting the Dillas up 2-1. The Dillas would see their 4-2 second-inning lead evaporate in an Edinburg offensive barrage in the fifth inning. Amarillo would take back the lead again in the bottom of the fifth, ultimately making it 9-7 at the end of the sixth. But the Roadrunners would answer back with a 4-run seventh inning, taking a commanding 11-9 lead for the last time, sealing the game with 2 more runs in the top of the ninth.
